Margaret Wright's Introduction
After years of photographing landscapes and other standard subjects for photographers, the discovery of digital post-processing techniques revolutionized my world, opening up new options for artistic expression. My images show common items, primarily flowers, in uncommon ways. Each image begins as a photograph and then I use digital and other non-photographic techniques to explore and show the different ways in which the beauty of the object can be experienced, taking the image from purely representational to a new, more abstract, level of artistry.
Although I still work often with a 4”x5” film camera, much of my recent work is digital from start to finish. I print each image with archival pigmented ink on paper, using different papers to complement the specific image.
My work has been shown in group and individual shows in Phoenix AZ, Wickenburg AZ, Tucson AZ and Santa Fe NM and is featured in private collections in Missouri, Arizona, California, Washington, New York and New Mexico. In 1997 I was a founding member of Imageworks, a juried society for the advancement of fine art large-format photography, with 25 members from the Phoenix metropolitan area.
I have several books in print, which can be seen by clicking on the link below:
